On Saturday, June 21, 2025, Candela hosted a Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Safety Training for Firefighters at the Summer Shade Fire Department. Participants learned about potential hazards of residential and commercial PV systems and how to respond safely and confidently to incidents involving PV-equipped structures.

The 7th Annual Summer Shade Founder’s Day event was hosted on Saturday, May 11, 2024. A Summer Shade Solar project team member attended the community celebration, which featured a car show, old-time games and contents, live music, and more. 

Project team members from Candela Renewables and Heartland Communications attended the Metcalfe County Chamber of Commerce Spring Breakfast on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at the Old School Gym. They provided project updates to community members and learned about areas of need in Metcalfe County.

The Summer Shade Solar Project Public Information Meeting was held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at the Metcalfe County Government Center from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Project team members were on hand to engage with landowners, community leaders, and the general public. Bowling Park had a funding need to buy food for Christmas boxes they distribute to the needy, Candela has a holiday giving program that was able to contribute $3000 to this initiative.

Candela joined the Metcalfe County Chamber of Commerce as a business member to build connections, support economic development, and promote community growth.

Summer Shade Solar project team members attended the annual Summer Shade Fish Fry, hosted by the Summer Shade Fire Department & Ladies Auxiliary on Saturday, May 4, 2024. Candela also made a donation to the fire department in support of the fundraising event.
